Accessing Data for QI

As adoption of EHRs has increased, so have the concerns about ability to access the data needed to drill down into quality improvement efforts or even reporting requirements. Depending on the type of system being used, data may be cloud based, on a remote server, or on a local server. Further, data may be accessible through preprogrammed, ad hoc, or custom reports, but there may be greater challenges to accessing raw data or data that can be analyzed for quality improvement purposes. Resources in this section address these challenges and provide actionable information for accessing the data needed.

HITEQ Highlights Webinar: Need Help Implementing Telehealth? Demystifying Barriers to Telehealth

HITEQ Highlights

While nearly all health centers have reported the use of electronic health records, only 38 percent are utilizing some type of telehealth technology, most notably to provide mental health services. Despite significant research that telehealth is as effective as in person visits, there are still many barriers to its use, including the lack of consistent visit reimbursement, technology costs, broadband availability, and resistance to changes to workflow.  This webinar discussed the current state of telehealth use by health centers and the barriers to implementation and use. We introduced participants to the national and regional Telehealth Resource Centers (TRCs) and provided information about how to access the resources and technical assistance provided by the TRCs.  For more information on the TRCs, please visit: http://www.telehealthresourcecenter.org/.
