The TLC Tuesdays series will provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the use of technology to support telehealth delivery.

Webinar Takeaways:

  • Clinicians are not hired differently to use tele-therapy. Clinicians with strong relational skills are hired as the therapist-client relationship is the most important factor. Must be able to manage technological anxiety.
  • Most common anxiety around telehealth has arised from providers being late to calls. Have found that texting the client to let them know has helped mitigate anxiety.
  • Differences in telehealth consent forms: normal demographics information plus location, description of telehealth services, and verbal agreement.
  • Two example telehealth templates shared: one, two
  • Zoom tips:
    • Use a waiting room, especially for group therapy
    • Webinar, meeting, or standing meeting? Webinar better for didactics, meeting better for interaction between participants, standing meetings have less customizability.
    • Breakout rooms feature not available on all healthcare-specific platforms
  • Pacific Southwest MHTTC Virtual learning guide shared. This resource is structured as a workbook for facilitators. It includes tips, examples, and reflective questions for those who are leading online professional development and other group learning events.
